Happy Mother’s Day to all of you mamas and mamas-to-be out there. In honor of Mother’s Day, I wanted to share a little bit about what my journey into motherhood was like, and what it is like to be a #boymom.

When we found out we were gonna be parents!

The road to my first Mother’s Day.

Landon and I were so happy when we found out we were expecting. As I found out during my pregnancy, I had high blood pressure. But not all the time. I have acute white coat hypertension. Basically, this means that when I go to the doctor, my heart rate like goes through the roof. It’s like a trigger. At home, it’s pretty normal. I had this with both boys.

When you have high blood pressure during pregnancy, they call it preeclampsia. Preeclampsia can be really, really, dangerous for both mom and baby. It can actually be life-threatening. So, when I was pregnant with Aiden, my first boy, they induced me two weeks early to be safe. I was in labor for like, 32 hours straight. I went from not being dilated at ALL for like a day and a half, to suddenly, like, he just came out. So, in the end, he was a natural birth.

My heart.

It’s amazing being Aiden’s mom.

Aiden is just a sweet soul. He was born on January 11, 2018 and he shares a birthday with my niece, my sister’s daughter. She is 10 years older than him. Anytime I have a tough day or anything he says, “you okay mama?” and gives me kisses on my nose. He strives to always be a good boy and he is just the sweetest little helper. When he was little, he was a short, stocky little dude that looked like he could just like tackle you. And now he is tall and thin. He just started preschool this year and we are super proud of him. Did I mention that he’s just so sweet?!

My sweet Aiden, as a baby.

And then, there were two little boys.

My second son is Austin. He was born August 23, 2019. They are almost exactly a year and a half apart. I was in labor with him for 45 hours. They had me every which way but upside down. I was like, super pregnant. I tried my damnedest to have another natural birth but he just too big. He was over eight pounds. They took me in for an emergency C-section, which was scary. I was just out of energy. He was born healthy (again…over eight pounds!).

Mama and baby were both tired.

Well, one is not so little.

What is it like to be Austin’s mom…when he was a baby, he would smile all the time. Over the past year, he has developed this funny little personality and he is just…he’s huge. Austin is in the 99th percentile across the board. So, he is just this really tall, thick, strong, big-headed little toddler man. And he’s amazing.

It is super cute to watch him start to repeat words and stuff like that. He is also not as sensitive as Aiden yet. He is a bit more…I don’t want to use the word aggressive. But he’s just a lot rougher sometimes. And then other times he is sweet.

The fellas that made me a mama.

The beauty of being a #boymom.

Aiden and Austin are cute together. They tackle each other, they can make each other laugh, and keep one another company. Its moments like these, moments where I see my boys playing and bonding that just warm my heart.

I know that if you are here on the site, there is a good chance that you are a mama-to-be, or a mama that might be having a second, third, or even fourth child. For me, it is helpful to hear what it’s like to be a mom, to hear what others are going through and have gone through. Thank you for letting me tell you a little bit about my story on this Mother’s Day. I hope it makes you comfortable to share your own experiences with us, too.

Speaking of sharing with us…we’d love to hear more about your journey in mamahood. What are your hopes? Fears? Questions? What about your story can inspire other mamas? Please, let us know in the comments. We would love to hear from you!
